A new year.

Goodbye 2011, and hello 2012.  It’s going to be a good year with new projects on the way and more getting moving down the pipe.  I’ll talk more about all of them here as the year continues.

It’s going to be a good year.  Thanks for coming along for the ride.

On Wednesday, November 30th I’ll be signing at the Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach along with Chris Moreno (World War Hulk: Front Line, Zombie Dickheads) and DJ Kirkbride (Popgun, Do You Believe In Ninjas?).  We’ll be signing books and talking with fans from 5 PM to 8 PM.  So, come join us.  Pick up your new books and get a couple books signed.  What could be better?

Popgun now on ComiXology

Popgun header

Popgun has gone digital and I for one couldn’t be happier about it.

Hailed as the “ultimate graphic mixtape”, the critically acclaimed, as well as Harvey and Eisner award winning anthology has recently landed on ComiXology, making this incredible collection even easier to find and read.

To date, there are four volumes of Popgun in print, all published by Image Comics.  I wrote short stories for three of them (volumes one, three and four) with a different artist on each (Nic Klein, Kevin Myers and Michael Meier respectfully).  Each volume is over 400 pages with an incredible mix of artists and writers.  popgun 4You really won’t find a more diverse collection of stories and talent in any other book.  It’s a feast of imagination, now literally at your fingertips.  iPad owners should not hesitate to pick these up.

ComiXology is offering all four volumes at just $12.99 each.  That is an incredible bargain for hours of comic reading.  How can you go wrong?

All four volumes are available for download here.  However, if you prefer the printed version, they are available on both Amazon and InStockTrades.

Go ahead and give one a try.  I’m willing to bet it isn’t the last one you pick-up.

I’ll be sitting on a panel at the West Hollywood Book Fair on October 2nd.  The panel is called ‘Creators Assemble!: The Rise of the Graphic Novel Anthology’ and will be held from 12:15-1:15 followed by a signing at the Comic Bug booth.  Fellow panelists include Kazu Kibuishi, DJ Kirkbride, and Nicole Sixx with Asterios Kokkinos serving as the moderator.
If you’re in the LA area, please come out and say hi.  Pointing and laughing is encouraged as I fumble through a bit of public speaking.
I’ll have copies of both Low Orbit and Outlaw Territory available during the signing.  I encourage more pointing and laughing here as well.
I do hope those of you that can will attend.  It looks like a lot of fun.  I know I’m looking forward to going.

Q
Greetings, Mr. Woods! I've written a 9-page western, with art by Marcello Abreu (who has illustrated for OT before). I would very much like to submit it for consideration in any upcoming Outlaw Territory volumes. Can you let me know if you are accepting submissions and best way to send you the story? Thanks, Terence anthony
A

Hey Terence,

Thank you for your interest but I’m afraid I’m not accepting any submissions for Outlaw Territory.  Good luck with all your future projects.

- Michael

outlawterritory:

Daniel 5:27 is the first story in Outlaw Territory volume one.  It was written and illustrated by Moritat.
The story is well constructed and beautifully illustrated.  I think this is easily some of the best work Moritat has done in his career.
Other works include Elephantmen, The Spirit, and Justice League of America.  Most recently he took on art duties on the upcoming All-Star Western for DC Comics.
You can see more art from Moritat on his DeviantArt page as well as his blog.
Outlaw Territory volume one is available now on Amazon as well as your finer comic retailers.

San Diego Comic Con is fast approaching and I’m scrambling to get ready.  It’s kept me away from blogging and Twitter and everything for the most part.  I should be posting new messages and updates soon, including a show report from San Diego.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.  Talk to you again in a few weeks.
